Kuala Selangor Fireflies - best time to go
- Only after nightfall
- Between 8.00pm and 11.00pm (better in the earlier part of the evening - 8pm - 9.30pm. By the later part of the evening, the kelip-kelip would have already mated hence less illumination)
- Preferably not during weekends
- Preferably not during full moons and rainy nights, when they are not at their luminous best
- Any time of the year
What to bring
- Mosquito repellent, stop-itch ointment
- Cameras. Flash is not allowed as this may frighten off the kelip-kelip
- Dress in flat or low heeled shoes and casual clothes preferably track pants for ease of getting in and out of the sampan
Boat charges
Each boat seats a maximum of 4 persons and costs RM12 per person. If you have fewer than 4 people for the boat and would prefer not to share…then a standard RM46 will still be charged for the boat.
The office opens after 5.00pm and boat bookings can be made for weekday trips; call +6 03 3289 2403. However, bookings will not be accepted for weekends. But go anyway, if you don't mind waiting.
