Depart on a 2hr, 90km/55mi drive across the spectacular Crocker Range to the ecologically unique environs of Mt. Kinabalu. At Park HQ (1,540m/5,000ft), visit the Education Centre and the Botanical Garden to see orchids, rhododendrons, ferns, pitcher-plants, kerosene trees and others. Take a jungle walk near the Park HQ and learn more about the Montane Forest. Mid-afternoon, return to Kota Kinabalu stopping briefly at fruitstalls & a pottery. (Lunch) Please Note: overnight trips can be arranged. Drive to Poring Hot Springs (130km). Trek through a hill dipterocarp forest rich in wild fruit trees and animal life, passing giant bamboos and ginger plants with edible flowers to reach a jungle-canopy walkway 40m above ground. Then relax in open air outdoor tubs filled with hot/ cold running mineral waters. Midafternoon, return to Kota Kinabalu with brief stopovers at fruitstalls & a pottery. (Lunch)(Indoor tubs optional extra) Please Note: overnight trips can be arranged.
0830hrs Pick up from hotel in Kota Kinabalu. Transfer to Tambunan Rafflesia Centre for about 1.5 hours journey through the mountainous Crocker Range. On arrival, a visit to the Rafflesia Information Center. Then, register for the jungle trekking activities. A brief introduction will be conducted by the park ranger before start trekking. The trekking will last for about 1 to 2 hours to witness the world's largest flower, the Rafflesia Precei (subjected to blooming season). Lunch will be served at local restaurant. Then, retrace journey back to hotel.
