National Museum

Muzium Negara houses a collection of treasures tracing its way to the origins of Malaysia. The architecture of the museum replicates the structural design of a traditional Malay palace. Outside, a long mural depicts the multi cultural existence in Malaysia. Conceptualised in the 1960s, it illustrates the huge significance the country placed on agriculture then. Inside, the exhibits are a reminder that Malaysia is a result of many influences: Paganism, Malay, Chinese, Indian, Islamic and European. What you see is a fusion of history, art, culture, customs and way of life. Displays include different wedding attires of the various races, musical instruments, weapons used against the more sophisticated Europeans, collection of kris from all over the archipelago and ceramics from the Ming dynasty.

KLCC
The iconic KL Twin Towers is one of the most photographed buildings in the world. The towers are beautifully lit up every night. However for those wanting to take pics of the building , please be warned that the lights go out at midnight. The towers is known as Petronas Twin Towers and houses the main corporate headquarters of Petronas , Malaysia's Oil Company. The 88 floor towers is designed by Argentine architects and under the consultancy of Julius Gold. Petronas Towers were completed in 1998 after a seven year build and became the tallest buildings in the world on the date of completion. The buildings is also annexed to a jogging and recreational park , the KL City Centre Convention Centre and also the KL Aquaria.
This large piece of land used to be KL's race course where large mansions lined the periphery of the course. Today, tall apartment skyscrapers have sprouted round the circumference and more is being built.

Don't miss the suspended ridge on the 41st Floor. Look down and you will see the KLCC Park, the panorama stretching across the Royal Selangor Golf Course, the Embassy Row and all the way to the rolling hills of the Titiwangsa Divide. The South view offers a more jaunty sight. The copper tint of tin roofs and warm wooden structures of Kampung Baru displaying its humble presence, nestling in amongst the menacing skyscrapers of Kuala Lumpur. Later on, have a stroll along the joggers path in the KLCC Park. Park yourself on one of the benches and gawk at the magnificence of the two looming structures before you.
The SKYBRIDGE connects the two towers on the 41st floor of the Petronas Twin Towers (as seen above). The bridge is now open to the general public every day except Mondays. KL Tower
![]() |
The other place you may want to check out if you're into city skylines, is the KL Tower. Functioning as a telecommunications tower, the KL Tower has an observation deck for visitors to enjoy the ever dynamic skyline of KL. There are package incentives for families and other group visits eg schools, embassies, technical tours. The tower sits on pineapple hill or Bukit Nanas which also harbours a little known forest reserve called the Bukit Nanas Forest Reserve. This is a pleasant little plot of green, perhaps the only plot of nature left in the heart of the city, that is worth a little visit. The walkway takes you all the way down from the Tower grounds to the Bukit Nanas nature education centre at the bottom of the hill. The education centre gives a rough overview of the forest ecosystem and distribution throughout Malaysia.
Take note that the forest walk is very quiet and it is advised that you may want to go there with someone else. Try not to venture into the area on your own.
Check out the website for more on the tower and the forest reserve at

Karyaneka
Imagine a village of artists dwelling in tiny quaint huts labouring away intently intending to complete their latest masterpieces. There is a hive of activity about. Painters painting, the thumping sounds of the batik press hitting its mark, two girls chattering away while weaving their golden thread in and out of their songket material are just some of the real life images you will catch sight of in this little enclave. It is a perfect retreat from the city, right within the city. Even the sight of the twin towers looming from behind the trees seems to do nothing to hurry you on to the concrete lure of the city. Bring your picnic basket, lay your lunch down under a tree and chat away with a silversmith or a potter. They are always happy to entertain you with their skills and knowledge. In the mornings, you will find some ladies attending batik printing classes. They too will be thrilled to share their new found interest with you. Wander on into the complex and take all the time you need to decide which of the many different varieties of handicraft you would like to bring back with you.
