About Mount Trus Madi:

Standing at 2, 642 meter tall, Mount Trusmadi is the second highest mountain in Malaysia after Mount Kinabalu. The peak is located amidst the Trusmadi Forest reserve, which is bordered by three districts—Ranau up north, Tambunan in the west and Keningau down its south. Trusmadi was once upon a time a popular hunting ground amongst the locals. Today, it has been declared as a Class 1 Forest Reserve with a challenging terrain to conquer.

Warm clothing (Temperature can be freezing at times)

A torch light (To light your way during the pre-dawn climb and to signal for help when needed)/ A head Torch

A whistle (Only to be used when is needed.)

Please Note :

  • Package Rate Per Person, quoted in Ringgit Malaysia (MYR).

  • This route ascent and descent via Tambunan
  • For Mount Trus Madi, the minimum age required is 18 years old.

Important:

  • Climbers are required to book date at least one month before climbing.
  • Climbers are required to follow existing trail only. Climbers are not allowed to open or create any new trails.
  • One guide can only guide 5 climbers on one trip.
  • Cutting of tree or plants whether dead or alive is strictly prohibited.
  • Things to bring including rain coat, sweater, torch light, appropriate shoes for hiking and socks.
  • Please bring your own extra clothes and bath items (soap, shampoo, toothbrush, toothpaste, etc…)
  • This trail is physically challenging. Please ensure you are relatively fit to climb this mountain.
  • It is recommended that all climbers should have themselves medically checked before attempting any mountain climb. If you have a history of suffering from the following ailments, it is highly recommend that you should refrain from climbing: Hypertension, Diabetes, Palpitation, Arthritis, Heart disease, severe anemia, Peptic ulcers, Epileptic fits, Obesity (overweight), Chronic asthma, Muscular cramps, Hepatitis (jaundice); or any other disease which may hamper the climber.

Children below 15 years old must fill in the indemnity form upon registration at Park Headquarters.

Tour Itinerary

DAY 1

Pickup from your hotel in Kota Kinabalu, meet and transfer for 2 hours overland to Tambunan. Enjoy early lunch before we proceed to the first check point at the foothills of Mt. Trusmadi, the second highest mountain in Malaysia. Start 2-3 hours trek to the rest house from 1,500m through montane forest. Observe the abundance of pitcher plants and rhododendrons along the trail. Arrive at the rest house late evening for early dinner. (Lunch/ Dinner)

DAY 2

Start to ascend to the summit at 2am at 2900m in time for the sunrise at 6 am. Explore the surrounding forest and witness the most spectacular view of the surrounding and the Mt. Kinabalu from afar at sunrise before we return to resthouse for lunch and back to Kota Kinabalu. (Breakfast / Lunch)

Please bring along raincoat, personal toiletries, towel, insect repellent, sun block lotion, water-proof gloves, warm clothing, torchlight, hat and water bottle.

Remark: This is off the beaten trek and ideal for small group only (Maximum capacity at rest house is 20pax).
